So this is my second entry to this challenge. I had forgotten that I'd done something like this for my own pleasure in 2006, the first version is from 1992, I think. This is Verina, the healer of a tribe of jungle elves. I still like the concept. Their clothes were so colorful because they used the butterflies as their source of inspiration. Furthermore, I like the design of her outfit and she has short hair! That is rather unusual for me and I like how it came out. The old version was a rather sloppy pic to establish her outfit and colors, but still, I think the new version does show quite a change.

That is so different! Wonderful! :D Almost like it's been done by another artist.

^___^ Thanks! I guess 14 years did change a lot. But I actually still use the same water color crayons I used back then. So the colors are exactly the same. The way of using them changed, though.

Yes, I was wondering about that. Looks like you really mastered them.

It´s great how you managed that the eyes and eyebrows look the same in both pictures. Therefore one can see that it is exactly the same elf.
And wow, water color crayons??? I gave up after my second try. I haven`t known that it is possible to achieve so nice results. The color gradient looks very smooth.

Hm, I don't know if water color crayons is the right word... but basically that's what they are:

I love 'em! Not so expensive and they last a really, really long time.

Aaah, I had something different in mind. Faber Castell produces water color crayons that look like normal color pencils. But thanks, I will keep my eyes peeled. :)
