Wolves, then and now
by Windrider
Just for fun, since I can't really enter this challenge due to discovering EQ too late in life.
Top: Age 6. Okay, I think these might actually be Lassie, but honestly a wolf would have looked exactly the same only grey.
Middle: Age 15. Probably copied from a photo. Could really have used a lesson in shading a furred object so it looked like it had volume.
Bottom: Current. Holdfast from the cover of In All But Blood. Still had quite a bit to learn about drawing EQ wolves, so this one is somewhere between zoological illustrator realism and EQ stylized.

Lassie is definitely my favorite! And honestly, for a 6 year old that is extremely well done! Ypu've got the legs in perspective -- how many 6 year olds do that, instead of just giving either 2 legs or 4 legs staggered the length of the body? ♥♥♥

Aw, now this takes me back! I started out drawing dogs and dinosaurs as a little kid, too! I remember taking a sketchbook and chasing the dog around to draw her. I was about six as well.
Frankly, I like the wolf when you were fifteen. Yes, the shading could've been more detailed, but maybe it's winter and the wolf is wet and shaggy from rolling in the snow. That works. Of course I love the illo of Holdfast; I could only wish to draw as well. |
