Well, this is a first for me. Not a human. Not an elf. Not a sprite. Not a humanoid at all. ...not even a wolf! :o This is the first completely created Shadow Wood creature. It's called a slowtooth. Here's the info that I created for it:

It's a large, ferocious looking beast (somewhat bigger than a bear, but smaller than an elk in height and about as long as a two Nile crocodiles lined up from nose to tail) but, in actuality, is amazingly gentle. It's comparable to an elephant, or more closely, a mammoth. As it is, this gentle giant is an herbivore. It's also a hibernator.

As plants are less available during the winter, this creature takes to a cave where it will den throughout the winter and in the spring, it awakens. If it's a female of breeding age, she will also give birth to twin pups during hibernation. The pups are born while she slumbers and they know instinctively to locate her teets and suckle from them until spring comes and mom awakens. Unless something happens, mother and father (wherever he may be) will sleep through the winter. If disturbed, they will awaken, investigate the threat and if nothing comes of it, will return to their den and to sleep.

The slowtooth in this image is shown in its summer coat which is short-haired, but, the coat thickens in the autumn and by winter, it's quite shaggy. The reason why it's called a slowtooth is because as massive animals go, this one's not that fast moving. But, don't be fooled by its speed. When provoked, this is one fearsome animal, capable of putting down an elf with ease and little effort. Even moreso than the bear, the Wolfriders do not normally hunt this animal for prey.
