thanks for 5x8 years - inofficial part3 April 29, 2018, 09:47:58 AM 280 2

for the main info.

This is part 3 and I decided to exclude it. For once time was very limited and I wasn't really satisfied with it. On the other hand I was not certain if I could / should include a scene with (a stereotypical slapstick-humour) piece-of-tart-in-your-face.
I wanted to do that, originally. So when Rayek comes jumping out of the cake like a jack-in-the-box and the pieces of cream-cake are flying, Cutter is standing randomly at the side and is receiving his share. :D
But then I thought "nawww, you can't do that, Cutter is quite Wendy's alter ego, so you can not have even some sweet cake into his face". So I left it out of the scene.

Now I've finished reading Final Quest... oh, well. Beloved alter ego. *sigh* I don't understand the world any longer. ;)
So for completeness... here is part 3.

I guess he looks a little like a Trekkie, doesn't he?

for the main info.

Well, so that fancy diadem was just too expensive and Winnie objected that he just couldn't spend so much gold on somebody else than her...
Moreover Leetah asked Rayek so kindly to support the local bakeries. And you know that he can hardly deny her any wish.
So that's the outcome. Wahoo! Well, uhm, no pole-dance at all then, eh? But he really intended it! ;)

His fans and supporters club* also seems to be on site... maybe they exchanged that "Elfquest" with "Rayek awesomeness". :D

(not shown: a few words of gratefulness that would fit under the image in the space on the page)
*hint: one of the balloons...

(PS: It's missing a little part 3 that did not end up in the book, maybe I'll post it later)

what:
This is pt. 1 of my entry for the "tribe's howl" fan-art-thank-you-book on the occasion of 40 years (or in elfin language 5 x 8 years) of Elfquest at the end of February 2018.
This lekker boek was compiled by Wouter te Witt, and it contains drawing, paintings, lyrics and just letters with grateful words. It was handed to the Pinis roughly around the time of Elfquest's 40th birthday (Feb./Mar. 2018).

Part 1 of my entry.

creation:
Most of the entry was created hectically during ~mid of October and Nov. 1st. The old deadline was Nov. and I had just gotten info about it mid of October. Well, finishing the calendar entry for the fan-art calendar 2018 and this at the same time... O.o
Luckily the deadline got extended till Dec. 1st, so I could improve and add a few things. I really got hurting hands and shoulders from the intense work at the computer.

content:
Among my first real Elfquest fan-art that I did for the calendar / planner 2012 - 2014 there is a Rayek picture. Of course, being just another Rayek fan, I had to do him, though I felt insecure because he's a well known character and I think it is very hard to get him right. I wanted to add some humorous elements, like the Cutter Voodoo plushie doll, the vanity mirror, elf-nip and so on. And also his to-do list.

Art is always a form of communication. And I had this hint on his paper scroll back in the 2012-2014 planner, with a potshot on the movie script that was published. Rayek did not really have a role there that was on par with his actual personality. He was shown as a rather plain villain. So I used that rather humorous form of protest with his to-do list; thus one entry there was to "strip for Wendy to convince her to give me a better role".
Well, I kinda went back to this idea roughly 5 years later when I heard about the thank you book.
If I wouldn't make him do it for that occasion, who would? :P ;)

So he's pondering the idea of showing up at the casting ...

Can you count the hearts? And beware of the Cutter plushie, it has teeth!
There is also a night version of panel 6, and after long pondering and asking for advice, I chose the day version for the print.

You can find other entries from people around here in their galleries. Some are part of a common image from elfquestfanart.com (with elf-self portraits)

xmas greetings 2014 December 25, 2014, 10:01:41 AM 2297 5
Well, well. Still in time with the seasonal art. Quarterly submission *cough*. Um, yeah. That originally started in spring. Time, you know.
The actual art is up on a filehoster due to file size (about 9 MB).

Please be aware that looking at this can damage your mind unless you have a sense of humor. ;-)

So here is a little Christmas greeting. With bells and whistles. A certain elf wishes you a happy holiday. Silliness intended.  ;)
Merry Christmas!
Skimback_2013 February 20, 2012, 03:42:14 AM 1643
My entry of Skimback for the Elfquest Fanart Calendar 2013. It was a long journey ranging from mid-end-summer 2011 when I decided to participate in some project like this to the final pic which was sent in Dec2011/Jan 2012. It was the first time for me and I really gained quite a lot of experiences.

Done in LibreOffice Draw and Inkscape, maybe 1% GIMP (final cropping iirc ;) ).  Maybe I am just more familiar with handling vector graphics.
After all I am happy I participated. It was sometimes a little exhausting (when you have a lot of "real life" work to do) but on the other hand I had also fun with it and I wanted to bring in these humorous elements.
In the process I was also talked into making a Rayek picture (of course that was my first thought, I am j.a.R.f. for a reason) but I didn't dare to take a main character. But since Skimback went kinda well in my opinion I decided to give Rayek a try. (see 2014 calendar)

I chose Skimback because there wasn't enough enthusiasm for Wavedancers or other rare characters and because it was not a so well know character so people wouldn't burn me if I failed. First I intended Venka or Clearbrook but they were already claimed before I decided to participate, then Suntoucher but after weeks being not claimed (and me still pondering) he was suddenly taken so I went around the list and found the Wavedancers. I took out my comics, and the online ones and instantly liked him for being a healer.
So this was then my fist ever entry to ElfQuest Fanart, and then even a calendar. :)

It was composed in parts (nearly all vectors) and then at the end glued together in the 2500x2500 pixel space.
