Title: Posable doll by Afke
Post by: Afke on February 25, 2018, 12:21:26 PM
I never posted my non Elfquest things here before, because I figured people would find me on other platforms if they were interested anyway. But I'm just really really proud of this little doll I made, I just need to share!

My very first posable doll, real trial and error it has been!
And yes, I mostly post on instagram these days. Real easy to share some work in progress pictures there.

Ohhhh it's so adorable! How did you make the joints? I'm passionate about posable dolls too, even though I don't own any. An EQ doll would be awesome, it would make drawing difficult angles so much easier! :D

Thanks, Czarine! :D
I used pipe-cleaners (the hobby kind), but they're no good. I already broke one of her elbows. I'm following a posable doll art group on FB, and there was a post about what kind of wire to use, but unfortunately I read that after I already made the fluffy body. But it's okay; doesn't look like the arm can come off, since I've got things glued and sewn together, and every step was a learning process anyway. :)
On to more!

I'd really like to see progress images if you make more! Doll-making has always interested me. :)

I use instagram for work in progress pictures, so once I start another one, you'll know when you see them appear there. ;)
You can view the wip's of this doll there as well: https://www.instagram.com/afke11/ (https://www.instagram.com/afke11/) (If you use the app, you can also see some more process shots on my profile if you tap the highlight that says Mini-Sia).
Once I take proper pictures of the end result, those go up on deviantart.

I'm finding more and more dollmakers on ig as well, though most make more plushie things with a clay face. So inspirational to see! I just finally had to try one myself. :)
