I think there is a scene of Rayek shedding a tear in the comic after he finds Kahvi lost the baby. But you never really see him pitying himself. This is an image of him feeling sorry for himself about all of the loves he has lost. It occurs just after he is told by Kahvi the baby wasn't his and he leaves the frozen waste. He sees their images in the fire and is angry with himself for showing weakness.

 Poor Rayek. If there ever was a character for whom I wish a happy ending it would be Rayek.

Elftanner, I love you. Your thoughts on this pic (which is beautiful) show sympathy and compassion for a character who isn't often given a lot of either.

I drew this one for you Manga. You said you wanted a Rayek picture in the calendar so I thought I would give him a chance. It didn't get used, but you still got Rayek didn't you. lol I love this image. I even had it as a screen background on my puter while I finished the Rainsong-Woodlock one. He really doesn't get enough sympathy and he really has lost a lot. In this he hasn't even met Winnowill yet!

I really like in this one how the fire creates a circle of intimacy, focusing us on Rayek's expression, against the cold, indifferent, glittering stars of the background. That really helps to emphasize his loneliness. Good job!
