Fladder & Zoetgras

These are my new girls Fladder and Zoetgras.
Fladder has only been known as a baby so far (daughter of Bloesem and my character Schudspeer), and Zoetgras isn't born yet when checking the info on the sites currently online. Actually her parents haven't even fully recognized yet (her daddy is still a few years too young).
But I love these two already!

[Edit July 17] Finally decided how to color this, a different method I tried. Not totally satisfied with it yet, but at least it looks soft and that's what I wanted. :) I gave it a base color with Copics and everything else is done with pastel pencils - been a long time since I used those!

Oh these characters are adorable.  (Your lines are so clean! /covet)

This picture makes me long for an elfquest canon story that focuses on two females the same way we've gotten skywise + cutter or dart + kimo. You've drawn that spirit of friendship so well between these two, and it makes me wistful for something we've rarely seen the comics.

Thanks! Although I usually clean them up even more, but not when I know I'll color it anyway.

I hadn't looked at it that way, but that would be nice yes. I always kinda thought of ShenShen and Krim that way, but that was only so short and not really clear either.
Seeing these two reminds me of being a kid, and you'd have a friend you'd share everything with.

Superb! Especially the skin tones. That method of coloring was a success, imho (though I'm curious what it'll look like when you are finally satisfied).

I didn't really determine a lightsource, and I'm not sure how I could introduce one at this point. It is good for showing of their colors though. :]

I think this looks good like this, the light in this picture has that bright summer day feeling, when the day is bright enough, even grass reflects the light and thus, there is no light source!... so this light you used here is perfect to my eyes!...

I actually think the coloring on this is great; it's soft and subtle, and you don't really need a defined light source.  I mean, if you're in a location where the light is reflected well enough, you sometimes won't have that clear delineation.

Seems to me these two are typical of younger girls that are inseparable, trust each other implicitly, and are at that age where they prefer the company of each other than romance or anyone else.  Doesn't have to mean they're in love with each other or sexual. I think we all have had someone in our lives very close like that.

True, but I like to have some variation in the holt's relationships, especially since it's been said that elves don't really care about gender in general.
It's like this quote I've read about bisexuality that says "I don't fall in love with a gender, I fall in love with a person."
It's harder to integrate that thought in an elf that has already existed in the RPG from the beginning - these girls are very new and I think they work beautifully together as a pair.

Oh, no problem. When I look at the way these two have been drawn interacting together, it was the first thought I had: the relationship one has when young, a bonding and closeness that excludes all else. It's just the feeling that's given off when I look at them.

Nice! I like the feather earrings on Fladder, and I like how easy and relaxed the girls' poses are. :)
