Joyleaf
by BurMarie
Ok, so its been more than three days since my last sculpture, but my mom was over helping me to clean house... being all prego and due to pop next month I figured it was more important to do house work than sculpt (much). Joyleaf took me about a day and a half because I wasn't really able to start her until yesterday. I know that I am not getting the faces just right on these little buggers, but they sure are fun to take pictures of and I LOVE having them sitting around on my shelf watching me make their tribe-mates.
Anyway, wire armature, sculpy III sculpt, paint and chalk finish. Just over 4 inches tall cause I figured she would be about the height of Leetah. I have started Rayek as well and he is due to be finished tomorrow or the next day!

I know her eyes are abnormally large... I was not paying as much attention to them as I should have and I think, after looking at the pics long enough, that her hairline might be a little low. Ah well, better luck on the next sculpt. Oh, and in the long run, she is meant to carry her bow in the left hand.

OOOhh I loves Her ! ! This is wonderful, I want to touch and Look ! I see what you mean about the eyes. Does not distract from the wonder of her though. I really like how she is fluffing her hair. Nice pose. Are you doing weapons and 'extras' in green clay ?
The paint job is so good I thought she was done in multi-color clays. Thank you for doing Joyleaf ! She is one of my Favorites. Wendy did a Sharpie picture of Joyleaf for me at Westercon 52, Remember ? ? She asked permission to write "To Tam" on it. I couldn't deny the twinkle in her eyes as I said " only You" ! |

Oh, she is done in multicolor clay. I just add paint for eyes, hair final coloring, and little things like that. Chalk to make her skin not so monotone and to add even more depth to hair and whatnot. I should prolly take some pre-paint pics just for comparison.

While her eyes maybe a bit too large, again, I think you captured her personality and her body shape perfectly! I am amazed!
