I did most of the sculpting for this little statue in about three days.  Some paint and touch-up were done over two more days and WaLAH! I have a little cutter to stand on my shelf!  I am pretty pleased with him (some areas really need improvement) but all in all I think he turned out pretty well.  Any suggestions on who should I do next?

That's really cool. Sculpture is a toughy and you did a wonderful job! You have so many options as to who's next. Maybe Skywise or Leetah?

3 Days !    Super Fast.      Big Wow.       I have been working on my SKYFIRE  for 6 months.     Granted I was waylayed by 3 months of medical Recovery, but still.     Cool  BUR.     I think I get caught up in the drawing research and then just get annoyed at the mistakes.    I teach better and go faster when I instruct.

I Love the soft look to the hair.  It is hard to do thin hair.  And the body measurements look right spot on.   What Armature did you use, if any ?   I'm still stuck @ 19g for smaller and I like it because it works for 65th.  Which is my favorite size.

If I had a choice you just know I would Pick  JOYLEAF  next.      ( And then of course CHANGESTONE.  Which I am doing now.   Slow but steady, that's me.)

The day I started this piece I was just playing with a bit of tin foil at a friends house. I ended up using that foil for the entire armature. I had some colored sculpy with me and just started sculpting away.  I eyeballed all measurements (which is why the left hand is horrid) but for a simple sculpt with little to no thought going into it, I feel it came out pretty darn good.  I have the body, pants, shirt, and head done on a Skywise as of this morning.  I still need his hair and headband, hands, feet and arm guards done before I do the touch-up paint and take pics.  Started it yesterday afternoon and I can't wait til I can post pics up here as well!
Guys can be easier to sculpt than girls, but in the near future a female is in the lineup.  I am gonna run out of shelf space to put these little guys!  Am thinking of starting up quick sculpts for peeps characters if I get good at this.  The trick for me is the face... can I get the face to look right.  Oh, and the figure is about 4 inches tall in his crouched pose, if standing straight up he would be about 4.5 inches at the top of his top knot.

Hmm, they should hire you. I mean we STILL lack figures for EQ. Especially Rayek. We had these mediocre action figures, the high quality busts and a few single Cutter statues from resin. But still there is so few of that. I wonder why.

I will say, in defense of the lack of many high quality sculpts, that this style of character is very hard to get just right.  Body measurements and height are pretty easy once a sculptor has a good grasp on anatomy (I am still hard at work on this), but the faces of Wendy's characters are so very specific that if the sculptor gets even a little bit off it looks wrong.  No matter what formulas exist for flat art, one must change them and visualize a 3-D image in their head while trying to remain true to the flat art. Its a royal pain to make the figure look good and remain true to the profile and straight on shot, particularly in the eyes.
Oh, and Rayek is on my list for upcoming sculpts and he is gonna be fun because so very little of him is usually covered up by cloth in the early years!! Yay for sculpting anatomy!! I have been trying to get just the right color of clay to do Sunfolk so that's the holdup on Leetah, Rayek, Suntop, Ember... pretty much anyone with a tan or that lovely dark skin.

A very great sculptor @ Gore,Gore,Gore  had the same problem with Disney Dwarfs   (Snow White, of course)  He said that the profiles and the full frontal just didn't line up from 2D  to 3D.    I Now know just what he means it has been slowing me for years on ELFQUEST.        This time I decided to put the  research drawings away and only sculpt off of the skeletal anatomy outlines.   It  is going faster.    And I discovered I love drawing bones and anatomical  more than Anything.    Live and Learn !

This is just fantastic.  I really admire you just for trying it!  As you said above... trying to translate Wendy's very distinct 2D artwork into 3D is HARD!  I own one of the Cutter figures, and the Cutter action-figure, and both are... not quite "there".  And I felt similarly a bit iffy on those busts that came out, even though they were high-quality.

You did a really very good job here.  I too feel you get closer than some of those "official" efforts.

Yes, faces aren't easy, especially since you have to work a lot of detail on a small scale. Also a face makes a major part of the impression the watcher will have. A lot of feelings, moods are expressed through it. I think it was the hardest part when I worked for the pinup calendars.
Good to read that Rayek is going to become "3d" soon. :)
