Our Holt #12: Truelife

In the tradition of Mirror and her stunning art, "Our Tribe," I was inspired to do similar. Initially, I was going to group them as Mirror has, but then I got lazy trying to get everyone organized (especially since some do not have heights listed) and complicated because I kept the individual illos large. I also wanted to draw characters that haven't had a lot of time in the spotlight, for the most part. As always, the scanner just doesn't do the colors justice, but at least you can get an idea of what I was going for. I already have about a dozen characters drawn, but I intend to color them all instead of inking them. Takes longer, but I just felt like trying to do it. I hope I've done everyone justice, but if I haven't, let me know and I'll make the corrections. And if anyone would really like to see what I can do with their character(s), contact me. Here is the long delayed Truelife in her fringed outfit. I hope it was worth the wait, Ca-Twin! My current scanner does a good job, but it kills yellow and dulls red, as you cannot see the highlights in her hair (damn!) and it's more vibrant in the original. Also, her fringe was colored with a pen that had silver flecks in it, which was obviously lost. Either way, I hope you enjoy.

Wow, I love your project, Amber! Truelife is gorgeous! Those fringes! Friiiiingeees! OMG! How many years did those take?
While I can so understand your pain about the colors not showing up correctly, they still pop!
Beautiful hues of red and violet!

Thank you, Treefox. I just wish the yellow and orange scanned better because it really gave the hair more depth and movement. I was able to sketch her in probably half an hour or less and coloring her took a while, mostly because her outfit required several colors that I had to blend. Drove me nuts. The fringe color wasn't what I wanted, but it was the closest I could come. I have a multitude of color pencils form different manufacturers, various pens, paints, and pastels...you'd think I'd have a color that would work!
