ElfQuest Fan Art

   R -  Sample:    MIDNIGHT           Super Cool  !  !   I just love to see how works progress, as well as Artist'.   I really like both of your examples.  But I do see and understand what you meant by  "scribbly-scratchy"  looking.         (I  do  believe that can now be used as a technical term for color pencils  *Grin*.)   Is the Flower Elf your self-elf ?   I see Venka face shape, Dewshine eyes, full lips, straight eyebrows, and a small nose.   What body type ? 

I think the flower is an Orchid ?  Both pictures, though "old",  show an early ability to see the viewer.  I like that a Lot.  Every time I need to get a character to look at me I have to turn to the page where Scouter is talking to Dewshine about the Cub she is carrying.  *sigh*  So sweet.  So loving.   It  still melts my Heart.  AAahh  -  I am just an old softie!

   I Am pleased with how the colored pencils, sharpie markers and crayons  scanned  in.  My favorite is how the name turned out.  Much better than my first  color version of Ponder in 1998.  Your colors are clean and crisp.  What do you use for such a finished look ? 

  R-Final Quest                          He  Heh  (sheepish grin )   Nevermind  -  I found all I needed and MORE when I continued to follow the Index page.   I can't wait 4 yrs !   Sigh**  but I will ! ! 

Oooohhh love her.  She is my all time FAV !   The group I originally joined in '92?  broke into fractions.  I chose to go with the new Chief.  Life mirrored Art.  I identified  with Huntress SkyFire.  Still do ! 

The colors are great in this. And she is very identifiable.

                                I love the shiny in this !  When I first saw it I thought  " Wow somebody did a beautiful elf in stained glass !"  Do you color on the computer ?  In a      program ?

  Hey there MIRROR.   ( My first  net-elf  friend )    I just LOVE your idea of a sketch "dump".   I would call it a treasure find.  The colors are so natural that they look more like photographs. 
                     Do you use those Copic Markers I keep hearing about ? 

  Thank You AMBERFOX.   I have been playing her and drawing her now for over 20 years.  The ponies came about because in a "Hunt Roll"  you can loose points and damage if it is more possible for anything on your elf-person to catch or be caught in a fight or flight.  I grew to like her both ways, if the spear is in her hands it's ponytail/braids.  But anyone drawing her can pick what they like to draw.

Hell-O   TREEFOX  !   Thank you for the kind words and continued support.  This drawing is from 2001  and I agree that I gave them All  "long shanks".  Eleven years later, and not a drawing one of EQ in that whole time, I  now do all drawing with the mechanical measurements and lines.  It takes longer but I like my newer drawings more. 

It's hard to see in these old Twins drawings, but the front of their hair grows tons longer that the back.  Hence the buns and long braid.  Something I just cannot figure out is how to draw the hair color- the PC and fellow SweetWater  member did a really cool thing;  she had the hair go from one color to another in three shades.  Brilliant !   I is hoping to get her to color these.  She is a Fabulous artist in her own right but a very busy Mom and student. 

I am pestering all my old Fan Club Artist'  to  join  ElfQuestFanArt.  Hhmmmmmm  .  .  .  .  maybe a Challenge is in Order ? ?  Hey ?

   The eyes are off on two of these - I think you are right.  Now that I am learning how to Scan  I might fix a few things.  Might Not.  Takes a lot of time to go back.  I try ,  at my age, to go forward.  The newer technology sure is tempting though.

  Hey  AMBERFOX !  I was trying to get the nose to look like RAHNEE , sorta feline / animal.   How she was on the cover of  BoTC  novel  #5  or how Tyldak  (ElfQuest Book 3)  'saw'   DEWSHINE.  Still needs work. 

  Hey, AMBERFOX !  My Holt needed boys;  in the real sense  for about two years.  Then we recruited at a local Game Fair - Bam  -  They outnumbered us girls,  It was weird for a while.
         I looked at your wonderful fan art site  - couldn't understand about the nose thing.  They ALL  looked good to me.  If you believe its there.  .   .  it's good.  Sorry . . .that is the Art instructor coming out in me.   te  he 
         I have a soft spot for the character made to mimic the Hyena in his hair.  He is hot.


  Ayooohar  TREEFOX !  That is really nice to hear from someone who understands , as a fellow artist , how hard it can be to   'break it down'.  Wintermoon is just sexy enough because he is all Elf.  Made him rare in a group of  (me , me , me , .  I want to be a Wolfrider)  mixed blood.  He was part of a Three-Love-Bond with Thunder and another boy elf.  Made some of the Pictures I wanted to do for her  .   .   .   for older audiences.

  I like this picture because it tells a story.  How did you do that w/out a background ?  Excellent.

   I just love the coloring of the Hyenas ! !   There is a Dutch Sheperd we had for a while that was the same.  Everyday I looked at her in wonder.  But, I really don't think I could color one in my mediums. Scanners just caught up to the look of crayons I think.   Before (over ten yrs ago) when I copied my stuff it looked real bad for WesterCon 52.

   Cyber-speak on.       Hey AMBERFOX !      First row vs second row; This is a size comparison between the 3rd generation  elf face, ears, height, and the 5th generation Wolfrider.    There were big size differences in the SweetWater Holt as we were made up of 3rd, 5th, and 8th generation only.  The middle picture is my personal 'Notes' on how to block in the different faces and  then I added the Symbols from the Big Gatherum for shape code reference. 
   When the expanded picture of Prey-Pacer came out in the new Hard bound #1 our Club took note of the difference in the ears for more wolf-blood.   It became a Big thing.   Actually became part of how you 'Roll' for Visual on your Character.   More Magic vs Less Magic, and so on. 
    "Howl Gallery"  is our term for the beloved dead.  I drew the examples from  OC / PC 's  in our past or NPC's.  Non Player Characters.  That way I was not always drawing the same elves all the time.  Variety, you know.

The girl against the wolf is PONDER.  I was going for thoughtful.  Missed of a little.  Whoops.  Still love the character though !
The wolves are a lot off, I agree. I still don't have their Stats down yet.  I wish she had it in the Gatherum. I can copy, but it takes longer to graph it out from scratch.
I have more pictures of the 'Autumn twins" (the pair tugging on the braid). They are a  "Mommies Favorites"
