This is supposed to be from a story that has Beyond (and 3 others that decide to accompany him) looking for the remains of Beyond's brother Firestorm and four other elves that left the Timeless in Two-Spear's time to join the Wolfriders, but likely died before ever getting close to them.
Here Beyond is in a place called Little Lark's Rest, looking for Little Lark's skull so he can bring them back to Fire-Rock Holt.
He might be smiling, be he'll stop as soon as he actually finds Little Lark's bones.

I think you have quite a good knack for bringing certain moods across with your backgrounds. You should incorporate backgrounds more often.

I really like the way his angular figure fits into the landscape of twisted rocks and roots, and the monochrome coloring is really effective. It feels like an illustration to a fairy-tale.

I try and make backgrounds but they tend to haywire on me. But I have been working on background late and hopefully I'll get better.
